The Legend Of The Vampire Khufu,
ISBN: 9781430315636

Travel the dark road through history as seen through the eyes of a vampire

From the cold stone depths of the great pyramid of Egypt, Khufu arises as an immortal vampire for the first time to stalk the night world for warm human blood. His reign of darkness is unchallenged except for Lar, another ancient immortal who for some unknown reason is trying to destroy him.
.... For thousands of years Khufu manages to elude this menace, but in its place he finds a more powerful enemy that he can never elude, and that enemy is loneliness. Hundreds of years pass with Khufu trying to ease his loneliness by mingling with mortals during their evening gatherings. It is here that he meets and falls in love with a beautiful Egyptian woman Lilia, that he woos until he wins her love, and who, after a concocted tale of his eyes being vulnerable to sunlight, agrees to become his wife.
.... Time passes swiftly for an immortal and before Khufu can make his Lilia an immortal so she can spend eternity with him, she suddenly dies. Agonized by this event, Khufu vows never to become close with another mortal again. Thousands of more years pass with Khufu traveling the world to keep ahead of his dreaded enemy, while at the same time seeking some kind of solace. It is not until modern times that he crosses paths with a young woman that he believes to be his Lilia reincarnated.
.... Using all of the charm he has acquired through the years, in a few months the two become close friends and once again Khufu is happy. It is just about this time that Khufu's ancient enemy catches up with him, and unable to capture or destroy Khufu he takes the woman.
.... Believing Lar has slain his new love, Khufu throws all caution aside and starts out with a vengeful passion to find and destroy him. The events that follow take many strange twists and turns that lead from the distant past before the pyramids to the present day, events that will keep you on the edge of your seat and unable to set this book down. Enjoy, R.M.

NEW POEM

Nights Silence

by Raymond Mayotte

copyright 2005

Under the bright silver light of the falls full moon

Chilly brisk winds warn of what will come soon

High in the tree tops where the limbs are now bare

Comes the sound of the branches creaking up there

In the cemetery below where long shadows loom

Appears a figure of darkness from an old stone tomb

Among the lone gravestones a dark void in the night

A foggy dark mist when it passes through light

Somewhere in the silence where the lights are low

It will envelop some mortal and no one will know

All power and stealth with lips drawn back tight

It will take the lone victim and swiftly take flight

Now alone in the graveyard behind a marker of stone

Where no one can see it and it has the victim alone

Comes the flash of white fangs and that pleasured sigh

Because the vampire must drink and the victim must die

End

A Glimpse Into the Dark Supernatural
By Raymond Mayotte

Click below and take a peek, but beware! Do not read this novel alone after dark if you frighten easily or are squeamish. Some of the happenings on these pages may seem very familiar to you, and they may cause you to wonder if that flicker you saw from the corner of your eye may have been the evil one.

Sitting quietly in the convertible parked in the darkness beside the highway, Randy watched, from the corner of his eye, as a young woman suddenly appeared at the railing of the highway over-pass. For a brief moment, and in the faint light of a near by lamp post, he saw the figure hesitate, then, like it was being shown in slow motion, she climbed the rail and threw herself to the highway below. Her young body striking the pavement and crumbling onto it like a rag doll, then, only seconds later, to be crushed under the huge wheels of an on-coming ten-wheeler that never even stopped. Mysteriously the highway became empty and an ominous silence prevailed, as the spiritual specter of the woman arose from the body and stood staring down at the crumpled heap on the pavement. Suddenly the silence was shattered by the crackling sound of static electricity, and the distant odor of sulfur filled the air, as another specter appeared. This one in the form of a huge, black, humanoid that reeked with evil, the odor causing Randy to slouch deep into the Convertible's seat. Stricken with terror, and unable to move, he could only watch as the enormous figure moved to the specter of the young women still standing over her crumpled body. Then, when she glanced up and saw the black evil approaching, it’s arms moving to express whatever it was saying to her, her hand went to her mouth and she back away; her other hand flailing out before her as if to ward it off. In the next instant the specter of the women, along with the crumbled mass before her, blinked out of existence, and for a few seconds longer the dark horror stared at the spot where she had stood. Then, to Randy’s complete horror, the thing turned toward him, and for the first time he saw the demon's evil red eyes. Eyes that blazed with a deep angry fire within, as it slowly lifted its huge arm to point a long black finger at him in accusation, before it also blinked out of existence.

The Sword and the Staff

The New Thrilling Fantasy
By Raymond Mayotte

Trapped against the face of the high cliff and a huge boulder, Larn prepares to meet his end as he hears the Dragons disciples moving closer. Unsheathing his sword and kneeling on one knee he presses himself into the crack between the cliff and the stone waiting for the inevitable, while sweat caused from the hot sun bouncing off the cliff face runs down his forehead into his eyes. Suddenly, and to his surprise, he feels a cool draft on his back and on investigating finds a small opening into the cliff face hidden behind the great boulder. On hands and knees he crawls into a small tunnel that looks to go deep into the mountain, his back and shoulders scraping the top and sides as he squeeze’s into it. Deep inside, and unable to turn, he finds that he has just enough room to kneel and look back under through his legs to see a pin-prick of light, which is the tunnel entrance, far behind. Seeing no movement and hearing no sound of pursuit, he lays his head on his hands to wait and after a time dozes off in sleep. Awaking, some time later, he finds the pinpoint of light at the end of the tunnel gone and realizes that night has come. It’s going to be a long crawl backwards, he thinks, fumbling around and struggling to tear peace’s of his cape free to wrap around his hands and knees that are bruised and blooded from the rough stones of the tunnel floor. Then something far into the tunnel catches his eye and he stares in amazement at a strange pulsating light. Like a nail drawn to a magnet he suddenly finds himself crawling rapidly towards the light, the pain in his hands and knees all but forgotten, as the warmth of the light wraps his body and thoughts in oblivious ecstasy.
